In 2009, Apolis partnered with a co-op of over 70 artisans to help build an international market for the resilient shopping bags they were already producing. With the addition of leather handles and a waterproof lining, the product is now connects the artisans of Bangladesh with people across the globe. Not only does the co-op provide fair wage jobs for Bangladeshi women, it also contributes a portion of its profits to social and educational projects in the community of Saidpur. Recently, the co-op purchased school supplies for over 400 local children, and they are working with Apolis to build the Bangladesh Sewing Academy. The Sewing Academy will teach job skills to local women every six months.
