Two times of year, the fashion industry changes up the styles for the upcoming seasons. At Birdie James, we don’t always fall into these style trends, but there are typically a few we adore. Here’s what you’ll be sure to find throughout our collections:

Color Palette

The colors are all over the map this FW18 season. You’ll find everything from soft lilacs and pinks to deep blues, olives, and reds. Oranges and ceylon yellows are thrown into the mix as well, but can be the most difficult to style depending on your skin tone. At Birdie James, you can expect pops of these colors from time to time over the season, but they won’t overtake our typical neutrals. And it’s as if they knew this about us…because they threw a little greige in. Phew!

Floral Prints

Though we lean toward solid, monochromatic looks, we love adding an occasional print to our wardrobe. It can be difficult to find florals that work for the masses, so you’ll only find these at Birdie James sparingly. We are believers though that a floral print done well can be ultra-fem and tres chic.

Lightweight Jackets

You’ll find lightweight jackets everywhere in the latest of style line-ups. From raincoats to Jackie-O inspired numbers, they’re out to make a statement this season. And lucky for us, this has always been one of our favorite ways to demonstrate our style. Given our climate, our collections will start arriving in October…here’s to hoping that we have some cooler weather on the Island this season!

Scarves

A simple scarf can add sophistication to your fall wardrobe. Scarves pair beautifully with tailored fall jackets and crisp button-down shirts; and even when you’re not wearing them, tie them onto your tote as an accent. As you can imagine, we’re always looking for neutrals in linen and cashmere to polish off our monochromatic style.

Pearls on Everything

This trend is huge and, we literally mean on everything! We weren’t quite convinced of this trend initially, but have since found pieces that have really hit the mark. We’re loving pearls on denim, and pearls on oversized sweatshirts (a boyfriend sweatshirt, if you will). And of course, a good ole fashioned pearl stud by Julie Vos is uber chic…
